Days 6 & 7 (June 10 & 11)
Lompoc - Ventura - Los Angeles

My tentmate, Matt, and I starting off Day 6 in Lompoc. It was a chilly 50 degrees every morning, or 10 degrees below normal for June.

Rest stop 4 roadies showing good form near Carpinteria.

Recumbent riders all. The happiest riders by far since our butts did not ache at day's end. Lori Jean in the red is director of LA's Gay and Lesbian Center.

Dinner is served! Delicious banquet style dinners of various flavors. We needed to feed our hungry bodies since we burned 5,000 to 6,000 calories each day.

The last day was a 60 mile ride into LA. Final ceremonies were held immediately after the route closed at 3 PM. Above is the procession of the riderless bicycle, symbolic of those who have died of AIDS.

Throngs of cyclists filled the parking lot as we paid tribute to the event and people who made this ride possible.
